-          Do not meet any online friends in the real world because a person can pretend to be someone they are not.

-          Do not use webcam with people you do not know.

The Risk of Social Networking Sites:

Social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Instagram are great sites to chat, make new friends and stay in touch with close friends. However, the question is do you know all of your friends on your social networking site? Are most of your friend’s random requests? If you answered yes to these questions then you need to know the basics of safe social networking.

Every post, picture, and tweet you put up on the internet, the public can see it all unless you have your privacy settings on private. However because you answered Yes to the above questions this means you do not know most people you are sharing your information with. This means anyone can use your information and share your photos with people online and you have no control over it.

If someone you know is being Cyber Bullied what do you do?

Some helpful advice if you know someone who is being bullied of what you should do:

-          If the bullying is happening on a social networking site do not join in.

-          If you see your friend being bullied and your friend is responding with hurtful comments, tell your friend to stop and just ignore the person.

-          Do not encourage the person who is Bullying your friend by sharing posts, images or videos because you might think it is funny.

-          Remember what it might feel like if you were being bullied and report your friend’s situation online or to a parent or teacher.

-          Most importantly support your friend and let them know that the person who is bullying them is just doing it to be ‘cool’ and you are there for them.

How to deal with Cyber Bullying?

There are many ways to deal with any sort of Cyber Bullying:

-          Talking to someone that you are close with such as a family member or friend can help solve the issue and make you feel comfortable knowing that there is someone there for you.

-          Keep any evidence of the bullying if it is a simple text message or email. Remember not to retaliate
